After a long battle to get our debt down to $2,300.00 and pay off over $50,000K in 3 years. We fell off the wagon for many reasons. I know we should not have fell over the wagon but a layoff, 50% income cut, legal issues, medical issues, and some dumb spending we are back up to $16,647.42 worth of debt 2 years later. We have decided it is time to get back on top. My wife now has a part time job that more like a full time job with the extra shifts she picks up and I am back to 40 until the end of the year then it will be back to 32 hours. I am looking at a new job with my company in another state, we have had the house up for sale and will keep it on the market.

We are making a promise to our family to have this debt paid off in 1 year. It will not be easy because of the 50% income cut we have taken since we paid about $50K off in 3 years.

I have broke this down to pay off $16,647.42 in 365 days starting Dec. 1st I will have to make an extra $46+/- a day. I will do that by the following ways.

1. Profit from Sports Photo Business

2. Answering questions on KGB( Similar to CHACHA, but I think better)

3. Money earned from Mypoints, inbox dollars, surveys. (I do this during break at work)

4. Extra jobs.

5. Extra shifts my wife picks up.

6. Clothing sold on eBay.

7. Anything else I can sell on eBay.

Why am I posting this on here. I need your help to encourage me to keep going. I know a few people will beat me up over falling of the wagon and I understand that and will take it. I will keep posting the extra money everyday until I feel that I have things back under control. Thanks for your help in advance.

Why would anyone beat you up? You have done that yourself, and you are the one that will feel the pain of getting back on track. Thank goodness you paid down as much as you did when the income dropped. You would really be hurting if you hadn't. Understanding that keep it up and be sure you are back in that place as quickly as possible. What about picking up a couple of waiting table or pizza delivery shifts? You should be able to make that amount easily with an extra 10-15 hrs a week on a second job.

My wife works evening and weekends so I try not to do anything them so we do not have to pay a baby sitter, but I have put my app in for the pizza place in our area.

I won't beat on you either. I just re-joined today and also have fallen off the wagon going from 26k in debt down to 14k and back here today at 18k.

Dave always says that personal finance is 80% personal behavior and I believe that.

I wish you luck and hope to see more of you on the boards. I used Dave's system before but never posted to the boards before and I'm still learning my way around.

Just keep working on it. Are you able to cut back in your budget a little more?

March was a good Month I was able to kill the discover card. April is off to a good start I was able to kill the AAdvantage card leaving just 3 cards left, but the downside of that it they are all over $3,500.00, but with the extra hours my wife is picking plus the little bit of overtime I am getting we should be able to polish off another $1K in April/May. eBay auctions are selling good, just hoping the vintage baseball card lot I have will go for $200+ I will be listing it today. We will be having an yard in early to mid May depending on how fast I can get things around and priced. If I can earn an extra $40.22 a day for the next 365 days I will have my debt paid off, we will see if I can do this or not. I will need everyone's encouragement on here. Well that is my monthly update and I will do another one at the beginning of May.

List of Debts:

Discover Card: $0 paid off 3/23/2010

AAdvantage: $0 paid off 4/07/2010

L.Q. Hotels Visa: $3, 984.86 4/10/2010

World Points Visa: $4,805.31 3/23/2010

Choice Hotels Visa: $5887.94 4/10/2010

Total Debt: $14,678.11 4/10/2010

You're making progress, good for you. And you're providing an example for those who might fall off the wagon, as well. It's so much more difficult to get rid of debt than it is to rack more up.
